(S1.E15) Wisdom, Pride & Humility ft. Audrey Statler, Alexis Torres & Rachel Hicks (Part 4 of 4)

SEASON 1: EPISODE 15: Wisdom, Pride & Humility ft. Audrey Statler, Alexis Torres & Rachel Hicks (Part 4 of 4)

(Series: Living Like Christ)

In today’s podcast episode, we discuss several implications of the foolishness of pride and the wisdom of humility. What does a city full of prideful Christians look like? (Eeech.) The Church can collectively hurt so many people when individuals do not attend to their own pride. We find that most people don’t seem to have any issues with Jesus, sometimes with God, but mostly with “Christians” and “church people.” Church, how did we get here? Sin. Pride is a sin. In fact, it’s the same sin that Satan (“He who opposes God”) had in his heart and rebelled against God. Pride denies the Blessings of God, the Grace of God, and The Blood of Jesus Christ. What an insult to The Trinity.

TANDEM HOPE WORSHIP COLLECTIVE is excited to continue a new series titled, Living Like Christ with our host, Leisha Cole. In today’s episode, we continue our four-part episode with guests, Audrey Statler, Alexis Torres and Rachel Hicks, in which we discover how to best pursue wisdom. If we’re going to live like Christ, we need to be humbled, for Christ Jesus is The Humble King, Who willingly came down from His Heavenly Throne and sacrificed Himself, and served people. No one is more humble than He. In these next few podcast episodes, we discuss the wisdom in choosing Christlike humility over fleshly pride. So from where or from whom do you pursue wisdom?

In a song I wrote and recorded titled, “Running Toward,” the opening lines are these:

“In this age/advice parades/ as wisdom/through tainted voices and clouded opinions/well, it all proves wrong in the long run/ so we fix our eyes to our Wise God/we’re running towards our God Who saves us/with open arms embracing all He says to us/we’re running towards our God Who changes us/with open hearts believing all He says to us…”. And that’s the heart and pursuit of God—in that pursuit of Him, we’re blessed by His Presence and Word—we’re blessed with HIS Wisdom.

SEASON 1: EPISODE 13: Wisdom, Pride & Humility ft. Audrey Statler, Alexis Torres & Rachel Hicks (Part 2 of 4)

(Series: Living Like Christ)

In today’s podcast episode, we’ll dive into Scripture together in Proverbs 21 because we don’t have all the answers and we don’t have it all “together.” Each of us needs God’s Highest Wisdom from His Word. Proverbs is a wonderful book in The Bible that speaks to the folly and foolishness of pride. Our guest, Audrey Statler says it well by saying, “When we think we know more than others, it’s likely that we believe we know more than God.” Ouch. She also continues saying, “If we think that we’re the ones who will teach you because you’re wrong—that’s pride.” There are many serious implications in our selfish, fleshly pride that take negative affect on our own hearts, our relationships, our churches, and how we hurt others.

(S1.E11) Living The Character of Christ ft. Alexis Torres & Rachel Hicks (Part 3 of 3)

SEASON 1: EPISODE 11: Living The Character of Christ ft. Alexis Torres & Rachel Hicks (Part 3 of 3)

(Series: Living Like Christ)

I’m excited for you to hear this episode as we dive deeper into who Christ is and how we can glorify God through the process of sanctification. Because we’re exploring the question, “How do we live like Christ?” We must first discover, “How does Christ see people?” Following Jesus Christ isn’t a list of do’s and don’ts—it’s a transforming relationship in which we become more and more like Jesus through the conviction, guidance, and strength from The Holy Spirit that dwells in us. How does Christ see people? How does He treat people? Unlike us—Christ doesn’t dismiss and dispose of people—He serves and invests in them (Matthew 25:35). In this podcast episode, we also discuss how we misrepresent Christ through our sin and how we view love. I love that Jesus Christ points to Our Heavenly Father and that He sees potential in people—He Who knows our past, present, and future selves and encourages us along the way. The purest love is that Christ Jesus laid down His Life for us while we were still sinners.
